Dr. Schroeder completed his ophthalmology residency at UAMS, which included a three month course in Basic Science of Ophthalmology at Harvard Medical School. He is board-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology.
Professional: Dr. Schroeder has been in private practice of ophthalmology in Little Rock since completing his residency, providing comprehensive ophthalmic care to patients of all ages, including medical and surgical diseases of the eye, and routine eye examinations.
He has a special interest in the interaction of visual problems with general medicine including neurological and endocrine diseases.
Personal Background: Born in southern Illinois, Dr. Schroeder grew up in Memphis. He did his pre-med studies at Vanderbilt and attended medical school at the University of Tennessee. He met his wife, Mary, at church. She is a graduate of the Baptist Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. The first of their four children was born in Phoenix and the rest in Little Rock. They have four grown children and twelve grandchildren.
He and his family have always been active in church and he has served as Chairman of Deacons at Little Rock’s First Baptist Church. Dr. Schroeder was a founding board member of the Arkansas Baptist School System. He was on the Board of Directors of Williams Baptist College in Walnut Ridge and on the board of Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, N.C.
Dr. Schroeder enjoys reading, especially non-fiction, and is an avid deer-hunter.
