Education:Dr. Monica Verma is a fellowship-trained
specialist in Pediatric Ophthalmology and Adult
Strabismus. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Biology at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. She earned her Doctorate of
Medicine at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. She completed her Ophthalmology residency at the University of Northeast Ohio College
of Medicine in Akron, Ohio where she was awarded the Walter Keitzer prize for clinical Ophthalmology research. Her fellowship in Pediatric Ophthalmology and Adult Strabismus was at the Baylor
College of Medicine in Houston, Texas where she trained with a number of experts in the field. She subsequently completed a fellowship in Cornea and External Disease at the University
of Missouri.
Professional: Dr. Verma is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a Fellow of the American Association of Pediatrics. She has lectured and presented research in her field at several national meetings. She is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Academy of Pediatrics, and the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus.
Special interests: Dr. Verma offers comprehensive pediatric eye care including the medical and/or surgical treatment of lazy eye/amblyopia, ocular misalignment/strabismus, blocked tear ducts, pediatric eyelid disorders, and retinopathy of prematurity. Dr. Verma also treats children for all eye diseases and injuries.
Personal Background: Dr. Verma is a native of North Little Rock. Prior to joining Eye Care Arkansas, Dr. Verma worked at Texas A&M University where she served as the Director of Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus. She currently resides in Little Rock with her husband, Dr. Sanjay Maraboyina, a radiation oncologist at UAMS. They have a four year old daughter.
